Sterilisation is recommended for all non-breeding dogs prior to the first heat at 5 to 6 months of age.
All cats, unless registered for breeding with the local government, should be sterilised in accordance with the Cat Act 2011.
Sterilisation procedures, particularly for female animals, are major surgeries and as such require a high degree of surgical skill to be completed with as little impact on the patient as possible. All vets at St Francis Vet Hospital are highly experienced surgeons and perform sterilisation surgeries on a daily basis.
